Job description
Markage is looking for a Mid-Level Designer to join our Canadian team in an on-site role based in Calgary, Vancouver, or Toronto. This role focuses on developing and delivering design work across brand, digital, campaign, and studio assignments. You will take ownership of defined design workstreams, develop ideas beyond first-pass execution, and carry approved direction through revisions and final delivery. The role requires enough experience to work independently while still collaborating closely with senior creative leadership. You will work with senior designers, design directors, strategists, producers, developers, and client-service teams. Clear communication, reliable follow-through, and careful work are expected. AI-assisted tools may be used for research, concept exploration, image development, presentation preparation, and production organization. All AI-assisted work must be reviewed for accuracy, relevance, confidentiality, and fit before it is shared or used.
Essential duties
- Develop concepts and design solutions from project briefs and strategic direction.
- Own defined design workstreams across brand, digital, campaign, presentation, or print outputs.
- Translate design systems into consistent applications across multiple formats.
- Present work internally and explain design decisions clearly.
- Incorporate feedback without losing clarity, consistency, or production quality.
- Prepare accurate final files and coordinate handoffs to production or development.
- Support junior designers with practical guidance when appropriate.
- Maintain organized project files, reusable components, and documented design decisions.
Essential requirements
- Professional design experience across several completed projects or client assignments.
- Strong command of professional design tools and production workflows.
- Ability to develop work independently from brief through final delivery.
- Holds a valid Dex Professional Specialist Certification (DEX-PSP) in the Arts, Media & Creative Production domain.
Preferred qualifications
- Agency, studio, or multi-client experience.
- Experience contributing to brand systems or digital design systems.
- Experience presenting work to clients or senior internal stakeholders.
